Background masking of text is available both in Microstation and in AutoCad so it seems reasonable that a Microstation text element with a mask set to 'background' should translate to AutoCad with the same 'background' mask and not black like we seem to get.
Has this been solved? I have a DWG reference in my DGN sheet file. The DWG has Point Labels that show masking correctly in ACAD, but show black in CONNECT Version 10.17.02.61

I think its BS that this was closed. So what if it is fixed in Connect edition. The fact that it is still broken in V8i is what i am concerned and torqued about.

Hi Linus,
I'm not sure how this was closed but I will look into getting the status changed.
In the meantime I have filed Enhancement #877637 to add support for background masking for text nodes which would be different than masking a single line of text at a time. This would be a different element type, Doing this would allow for supporting multiline text mask when opening DWG files and the saving of multiline text with background from DGN to DWG.
The proposed options would be:
1.) Mask the text as we currently do with the background matching the exact width of the line text. The text mask would actually be an irregular shape based how many characters would be on each line of text
2.) Create a mask that would encompass the entire text node based longest line of text and mask elements out where text is place this would result in a masking block as you would see in AutoCAD
3.) Have an option to choose either method #1 or #2
Which would you prefer? Reply by stating 1, 2, or 3.
This would be open to all who want to vote on this idea.
Regards,
Regie
