Am ifc file comes with a lot of property information. This information, however, is not imported into MicroStation. Only the graphics and the class is imported (not even OBD has this functionality)
In contrast when you e.g. create an iModel from Revit, you will get lots of object data.
Since IFC is an ISO standardized exchange format that can be generated from various CAD, it is very important to be able to se this in MicroStation as well.
As a user I'd like to see these properties in MicroStation in order to analyze the model, and generate tables and reports
It appears that IFC4 actually works fine. IFC2.3 isn't interpreted properly
IFC properties should be interpreted as Item Type or EC Schema instances. Then standard MicroStation tools can be used to examine those data and export them as a Report, and label DGN elements with IFC properties.
What happens when you import the IFC into iModel and reference that into Microstation? Will it give the same information as when it's Revit => iModel?
I'm also in favour of using IFC properties in schedules, reports, ... in OBD (not so much Microstation, but for me it doesn't matter where the functionality is added).
