I think that "Text Styles" dialog and "Dimension Styles" dialog should have a button (maybe called "Identify style from element) in its tool bar to identify a style picking on an element in the drawing and then MS should select that style in the "style list" (left column).
This way I don´t have to open the Properties palette and looking for that style in the list....
This functionality already exists. Use ALT-DATAPOINT on the text or dimension element you want to match/set (or use the key-in match element fromcursor)
