Every now and again someone posts a question on the MicroStation Forum about @scripts, also known as Script Files. Often the author is a newcomer to MicroStation, doesn't know where to start, and hasn't come across @scripts.
MicroStation Help doesn't help: I can't find anything about @scripts or Script Files. An introduction in MicroStation Help would help, or perhaps a pointer to a Wiki. There's an archived Ask Inga Wiki that describes Script Files, but a newcomer to MicroStation is unlikely to find it.
Ivo, the Script Files that Jon is referring to have nothing to do with plotting. Rather, they are for issuing a series of key-ins much like function keys; except that they can be many lines in length. I've been a MS user since its inception and I have used them on ocassion with a high degress of success. A huge time saver when they are needed. See https://communities.bentley.com/products/microstation/w/askinga/389/how-to-string-keyins-together-or-create-keyin-scripts for more information.
Longtime user here... never used @script.
I use pentable instead and I see no point in doing otherwise. Main reason being the poor documentation.
Problem is with terminology as scripts are also for animation scripts.
@scripts are called command files(batch) or Key-in scripts. Action strings could also be explained there.
Key-in scripts
Problem is that @ key-in is not listed in key-in index either.
