edit text in a parametric cell

It would be nice to be able to control the text in a parametric cell. Edit it with a text editor, use item types to control it too.

Parametric Cells would be so much better if we could control the text in them. It seems odd to me that there is a text variable in the constraints, but we can't use them to control the text inside of a parametric cell that has it. So close and yet so far. Everything is there, except the ability to link it.

Thank you for the additional information giving clarity to your idea.

Currently, for parametric cells, the Edit Item option will show in the right-click contextual menu only if the Item Type is attached directly to the cell after placement. If the Item Type is attached to the cell or its variations in the cell library, Edit Item won't show in the contextual menu after placement and therefore you cannot edit the text so you're correct.

I don't know. Is this function in 10.17 of MicroStation? If it is, it doesn't work because there is no way to place the item type and link the text to that item type data so that when I place the parametric cell I can edit the text in the parametric cell by choosing a variation or any other method, that I can figure out. Can you show me a demonstration of it working? I am not looking to place the item type on a parametric cell after I place it. I want the item type to already be there when I place the parametric cell and be able to change the text in the parametric cell with a variation and/or a property.

    Hello,

Currently, you can attach an Item Type to a parametric cell and place the properties of the Item as text. You can also use Edit Item to edit the text. Is this what you're looking for?
