Color 0 and 255 (background color) identify as "white" and "black" by default. However, they swap on sheet models where color 255 becomes white and color 0 becomes black to mimic a piece of paper. When the background changes to grey for Drawing models, Color 0 still stays white. If the user changes the background color to blue, Color 0 again stays white. Whatever color the user changes the background to (except white), Color 0 remains white. I recently tried changing my background color to off-white to see if that caused less eye strain. Again Color 0 remained white and could not be seen.
My proposal is to change the behavior of Color 0 so that it will be white, up to the point where black provides better color contrast with the selected background color. Then Color 0 would display as black. There are US Government rules (Section 508) that provide standards for this. In my example, off-white background would result in Color 0 being black.
Please make the software change the default appearance of Color 0 (either white or black) to offer the most color contrast with the background color of the model. No doubt a user would still be able to select a background color that doesn't compare well with either white or black, but I believe this would be useful in most situations.
