It is very common for various shops to need a welding symbol annotation on a drawing. Often times, the shops are small or the details are simple (such as a steel member repair drawing) and wouldn't warrant the use of a very expensive and robust program such as ProStructures. For example, if we had a maintenance shop that had to do a quick repair drawing for a steel expansion joint plate or to fix a cracked steel member, they would just want to fire up MicroStation, draw the 2 or 3 details they need and get it approved by the engineer.

it would be cost ineffective to use ProStructures for this common business function. Additionally, MicroStation used to have a weld symbol builder tool which has been asked for already on this portal. See idea MSR-I-1173

I am requesting that Bentley add an annotation only weld symbol builder. This will enable more time and cost-efficient workflows on non-design or BIM level projects which make up a large portion of project work, especially in public sector (govt) operations.
