Seems fast display is no longer available in Microstation even that view attribute options still exist.
I am looking for option to hide cells but it no longer works. Key-ins set curves and set cells also no longer work.
If fast cells are no longer needed for performance then it would be useful to have the option to not only hide text display but also cells. Example workflow is fence clip which also clips text and cells but by hiding text and cells it is possible to clip lines and keep text and cells intact. So change view attribute "Fast cells" to "Hide cells"
MicroStation Help - Glossary - F - fast display
A view attribute setting in which the display changes to an abbreviated form of the information which would normally be displayed. The nature of the information in the design does not change; only the presentation of it in the view changes. Fast display can be selected for cells, curves, text, and fonts.
Hopefully fastcells will be reinstated soon.
Fast Cells I think is fast as it uses info that is already used by the display system. But the bounding boxes are usually aligned with the model coordinate system, so not very usable way to simplify the model and still work effectively. LOD control is something that is a growing problem.
The new Esri ArcGIS Feature Services – Cell Fixed Size functionality might the way forward. Using the Element Template system to dynamically proxy elements would be useful alternate workflow.
Display Rules already has a Hide Action. Should work on Cells? It would be great to have a Replace Action
