The User Profile File is damaged with many installations "regularly". This causes random effects and isssues.
And is often leading to lengthly discussions in the forum and probably Service Tickets.
It would be good to have a tool to check the upf-file(s) for sanity and/or repair it .
I have the feeling it would be a better idea to solve the issue of the UPF getting corrupt, rather than creating a tool to repair it. It's hard to know the content of the upf since it's not easy accessible like a xml, which doesn't give you much options other than deleting it and recreating (or return to a backup version). But the content can't be that complex that solving the issue is hard.
What about having a function to save a good UPF file after you have set it up, to the seed file set in MS_USERPREFSEED, and another function to delete the current UPF file so that it automatically gets replaced with the MS_USERPREFSEED file.
My UPF gets corrupted way to often. This would be very helpful.
It is a great idea and will helps a lot in design work.
Hello Gerd,
Thank you for the idea. This is something we will consider for a future release.
Perhaps transition to a more stable and controlable format, such as XML. At least provide a function to import/export the binary data of the UPF to XML. This way an administrator can create a backup. It also provides a way to easier maintain the settings
