In the References dialog there is a setting to apply transparency to a reference file, however it does not print transparency of raster images in reference files unless Rasterized is on.
In V8i versions the raster images would always print with transparency if set, Rasterized ON or OFF.
Rasterized ON tends to increase the PDF file size and in some cases lose some parts of the image in the output.
Could we please have this function enhanced to be the same as it was in V8i
Hello John,
Thank you for reaching out and we are already investigating this bug as it was reported by other users. It is currently scheduled to our next major release. We will close this one as it is not an idea.
In the future, please register bugs via a Service Request (SR) as that helps us quickly prioritize issues experienced by multiple users.
Here the instructions: https://communities.bentley.com/communities/other_communities/licensing_cloud_and_web_services/w/wiki/54904/creating-a-new-service-request-technical-support.
Thank you again.
Best regards,
Eduardo L
In the old V8i versions we were able to use the transparency option in the References dialog to control the printing of a reference file contents with a transparency setting, since we have changed to using Connect Edition products, we find that the setting is still available in the References dialog, but it has no effect on the print output, it only shows transparency on screen.
We have had to do back door settings on levels to achieve the result but that can be virtually impossible in some circumstances, and we have to do the printing from an old V8i version of MicroStation.
We have put requests in to make the function work as it did in the V8i versions several times and it has still not been fixed, is there a reason for it not being functional, if so, why has it not been removed. What is the point of having a function available if it does not do anything.
I have attached files that clearly show the issue, a PDF file attached to Raster Attached.dgn, and Raster Referenced.dgn that has Raster Attached.dgn referenced to it with transparence set to 80%. If you try to print this, you can clearly see in the print dialog that it will not print the transparency. In V8i versions this was working but it has not ever worked reliably in CE. We did find in some cases early on that it worked sometimes, but mostly did not, and it was supposedly fixed in Update 15, but it still does not work in V2023.
Can we please get this function working as it did in V8i versions asap.
