Option to make Paste Unformatted Text the default

Hi,

Background: When placing or editing text, I already have the desired format for my text (meaning color, textstyle, justification, etc). If I copy some text, either from a Microstation element or from a program outside of Microstation, I want to paste the unformatted text into my Microstation element (either edit text or place text command).

Suggestion: I would like a preference or a configuration variable to swap the default (paste formatted text) with the option (paste unformatted text). That way, the user can choose if he/she wants Ctrl-V to include the text formating or not. Then I would like the Shift-Ctrl-V and the right click menu to perform the other option.

Result: Each user would be able to select what he/she uses most often, and not have to stop and think about the process of what extra step they have to do to get what they want.

--Thanks,
--Robert Arnold

Last 3 comments are about an alternative way to paste unformatted text. It already exists with Ctrl-Shift-V. That's not the point of this idea. The point is to switch the unformatted text to the DEFAULT behaviour so that we don't have to remember holding down shift when pasting.

While the Microsoft Power Toys key-in is a four character key-in, three of the keys are grouped together. It's not hard to get used to. I understand it's not what you want, but it's available now, and works everywhere.

The key-in that you list is a 4-key press-at-the-same-time thing, instead of a two-key press. My suggestion is to allow the standard Ctrl-V to be modified by a configuration variable to be set to "paste as unformatted text", so you don't have to stop, think about things, and use the three-key press of Shift-Ctrl-V instead of the two-key press of Ctrl-V. The 4-key press that you bring up is going the wrong direction.

P.S. This idea assumes that the "paste as unformatted text" is working correctly and pasting unformatted text, not text that is formated with the "defaul" format. That bug is unrelated and has been addressed by a different "idea".

Consider the free Microsoft Power Toys, which features a paste unformatted test function. Works everywhere. The key-in is <Ctrl>+<Windows Key>+<Alt>+<V>. https://apps.microsoft.com/detail/XP89DCGQ3K6VLD?launch=true&mode=full&referrer=bingwebsearch&ocid=bingwebsearch&hl=en-us&gl=US

Indeed, this is how it should work. This is how it always used to work. If we need the format of the copied item, we can simply paste it into the file. The text dialog should work like Robert describes.

I only use Text Styles as seeds and I never leverage Annotation Scale, it's annoying and does not fit my work flow..
