Tools such as "Named Boundary", "Hatch Pattern",.... has the "Element" button to pick directly on the element the issue is that element will dissapear and it will take part of the "Named Boundary" or a shape (pattern).

So in any Tool Settings should appear the option "checkbox": Keep original, to create a Copy of the element when you select the button "Element".

If checkbox is checked then it will create a new copy of the selected element.

For example, "Create Region" has the "keep Original" option.
