Background:
Custom keyboards and macro pads are a great way to increase productivity when used together with the ability to add key-ins to keyboard combinations and the function keys. Windows have support for 24 function keys but microstation only supports up to 12 in the regular interface and 3 more if you are willing to edit the function key menu file with a text editor.
Suggestion:
Add the remaining function keys to the drop down menu [Settings -> function keys] making the list F1 to F24, this would double the available combinations without taking any functionality away.
Update 2021-10-07:
I have added a video and a screenshot to demonstrate that F13 is not the same as Shift+F1.
The screenshot shows my edited function key menu with F13, Shift+F1 and Shift+F13 assigned to place a specific text. The video is me triggering the shortcuts in order. I have also attached my function key menu file if it is of any interest.
Hello Dennis, thank you for sharing the suggestion. F1 to F12 are usually accessed via <Shift + F1, F2, etc>. These are already assigned to The Attributes toolbox tools.

Hi Dennis,
I've found the right codes to use for F13 to F24. After this you just need to use a keyboard that supports F13 to F24. Usually the one that can be programmed via QMK.
Hi Dennis,
Do you where to find the code for F13 to F24 including the modifier keys that I can mix with it (e.g. Shift+F13, Alt+F13 etc.). I'm having trouble understanding them a bit. But once I learned it, I think it can add additional function using my second/third keyboard.
It is not that simple... "shift+F1" is not exactly the same as F13. When i trigger F13 in windows it does not return "shift+F1" in Microstation.
I can add shift+F13 to shift+F15 by modifying the function key menu file with a text editor. See attached image.
That makes no sense. F13 to F24 are accessed through Shift + F1 to F12 - which Microstation already supports.
