SHP data for point elements is currently imported as a simple point, a zero-length line. It would be more helpful to allow cells to be defined as those point elements, since often those points represent real-world objects. Exporting the point coordinates so that cells can be imported to their location is a visual correction only, and those newly created cells do not have any of the additional non-graphic information attached to the imported points. It would be far more helpful to be able to select a cell to be applied when SHP points are imported, so that the point would "look like something" AND retain the attached data.
This sounds like a great idea, I have had to write applications to do this so even if the idea was developed into a standard application to run on the referenced data it would be a step in the right direction.

John.
