True Beta Testing

Hi,

I would really like to see a true beta testing program implemented again for Microstation. The current method is not working. It is 2020 and some of my 2018 issues have been addressed, but not all of them. Also, there are some 2018 issues that Bentley thought was addressed, but I have continued to have issues with, and never knew that it was marked as completed.

Please set up a beta program with a beta forum where users can get things fixed prior to the production release.

--Thanks,

    Hi,

I just wanted to point out a difference betweeen a potential EAP program and beta testing. Many times Bentley wants users to test out "new features" and provide constructive feedback on the new features. If this is what an EAP program is setup to do, it is NOT a beta program. One of the primary purposes of a beta program is to test the new product (not just features) in the working environment. Many times things will get accidently broken which are not related to the enhancements or improvements, and the beta testing is supposed to find this issues and get them corrected before the product is released. The point of this "idea" is that we need true beta testing. If the EAP program is set up for true beta testing (and testing out new features), then that is good. If the EAP program is set up only for or primarily for new features, then that is not true beta testing as recommended by this idea.

    Hi,
This has been "planned" for a long time. Currently we are on Microstation CE Update 17, and I can not use it on my working drawings. This version destroys my "application data" elements. When asking around, there is no beta testing or pre-release scheduled for Update 17.1. It does not seem like Bentley is serious about having a reliable product. If Beta testing is "planned", then please stop planning and get it implemented.

    Hello Tuan,

We are currently in progress with the EAP for our next major release. For this first iteration we have decided to focus on a limited number of MicroStation E365 accounts. Based on their feedback regarding the process, tools, features and workflows shared, we will investigate potentially expanding it to more users.

    Best regards,

    Eduardo L

It's been more than 6months. Is there any update on this?

Hello Robert, thank you very much for the great idea. We understand your concerns and are actively looking into an early access program that covers multiple workflows and industries. Besides that, we are also accelerating user workflow driven quality assurance initiatives to catch bugs as early and effectively as possible.

We will share details on the new program soon.

    Best regards,

    Eduardo L

so many bugs that hamper actual productivity and the dev team keep pushing out useless technology preview features that do absolutely nothing to help production.

this would be useful because my short relationship with MSTN seems like i am hitting bugs everywhere i look and everything i touch.

Within hours of installing Update 15, I had already hit a regression from Update 14. Within a week, I hit multiple issues. There are multiple regressions, and lots of issues that are still not fixed.

Again, Microstation CE Update 15 continues to be of a beta testing quality, but we don't have the tools of the beta program to get them fixed.
