In MicroStation 2023, a Tech Preview feature allowed users to override Item Type property definitions within local variables using expressions. This provided flexibility to define Item Type properties without expressions and override them differently in different parametric cells.

This capability is no longer available in MicroStation 2025, and I have been informed that it was already removed in MicroStation 2024. As a result, if a property is expression‑based, it can only be defined in the Item Type or in local variables, but Item Type properties brought into local variables cannot be overridden.

This change significantly increases maintenance effort, because each parametric cell now requires its own local variable definition, and updates must be made individually across all cells.

Please consider restoring the ability to override Item Type properties in local variables as previously allowed in the 2023 Tech Preview.
