Hey all,
based on the interesting discussion going on here, we have created an idea how we would potentially tackle this.
Before executing, we need your input or vote to make sure we have understood your requests/idea properly:
Ability to create circular callouts where the leader line is truly perpendicular to the circle, with consistent bubble sizing and more flexible leader behaviour — without workarounds.
Key requirements from the discussion:
Perpendicular leader to circle: Place notes whose leader attaches to a circle at any point using a perpendicular snap lock (not just 3 and 9 o’clock), while keeping the text centred inside the circle.
Works as a true note/callout: The solution should behave like a standard note tool (annotation) rather than separate lines + text or custom line styles, so it is easy to place, edit, and manage.
Consistent bubble sizing: Circle size should be controllable and remain consistent, even when the text grows from 1–2 digits to 3+ digits, instead of auto-scaling in a way that makes bubbles visually inconsistent.
Use circle as a frame/block: Support a “circled note” or callout style where the text is framed by the circle (or capsule) with optional leader, so users do not have to build this manually.
Multiple leaders to one note: Allow a note to have multiple leaders that can attach from different sides (e.g., left and right) instead of forcing all leaders to converge at the same point on the text.
Robust association & constraints: Leaders should stay properly associated to the circular note when the note text or position changes, reducing the need for “fudging” and manual clean-up.
Dimension / note style support: Make this configurable via dimension/note styles (including using a circle/capsule terminator and manual text placement) so teams can standardize these callouts.
We appreciated any feedback or examples (e.g. screenshots)
