MicroStation Compatibility with ARM Processors

As the computing industry increasingly shifts toward ARM-based processors, seen in Apple’s M-series chips and other ARM-powered devices, it is essential for MicroStation to support this architecture. Many professionals, particularly those working with high-performance and energy-efficient devices, would benefit from a native ARM version of MicroStation. By making this change, Bentley would align with industry trends and provide users the flexibility to use MicroStation on a wider range of hardware.

Hi Inigo, thank you for your valuable feedback on the ideas' portal. Microstation does run fine on Windows ARM laptops through an x86 ARM translation layer, and we are closely monitoring the percentage of users utilizing ARM processing, with a look to take decisive action to fully support this once we observe a significant market shift. We're ensuring interoperability remains a top priority by aligning this decision with our partners, enabling us to deliver a consistent experience for our services. I will keep this idea post open to gauge interest from other users as well. Many thanks!
