CVE processing takes quite a long time. For large files, the processing can hang or crash.
It would be helpful to provide:
A bit more feedback on the progress. Currently: there are messages for the preprocessing, Visible Edge Processing stages. Info on what is saved would also be good. The screen updates but when the user aborts, the geometry is not always saved.
Time taken after each stage in the message panel. Also good to save the time taken for processing for each CVE. Save as Item Type or as separate .txt file.
an Interrupt button that allows the user to stop the processing and save the results. Could be in 5min intervals to minimise any overheads to the processing? When the user clicks on the interrupt button, the DV processing stops at the next 'polling' point and saves the results as displayed on screen. A lot of long processing cases seem to be due to a small number of problem elements that fail to process properly.
Extended feedback should include any behind the scenes translation undertaken for elements outside of the SWA, and any ACIS conversion type processing... etc
