In the reports tool (Item Type reports?) you have the ability to set the Selection Type to "By Fence". Lets say you have a line that is 100 feet long, but only have the fence covering a small 50' section of that line, the report will still list 100', regardless of what your fence mode is (ie Clip). It appears to only be using the fence to select any element that enters it.
It would be nice if the report honored the fence mode and only showed 50 feet.

When you say the report lists 100', what are the parameters or your report? Did you select "Total Length" as one of the columns that you're reporting on? Can you give more detail on your report or upload a sample file with the report you're generating in it?
