Our GIS team is often working in an unmodified state plane coordinate system i nthe GIS environment, and we often get .shp file from them to import into Microstation for inclusion into the plan sheets. However, we are usually working in a modified coordinate system in microstation specific to the project. This causes the lines from the .shp file to appear in the wrong place. We need a way to reproject the .shp file to the modified coordinate system. Currently, the only way to do it is to import it into a model with the unmodified coordinate system defined, and the change it and choose the option to reproject. This is problematic when we are importing to an existing environment, since we don't want any of the existing elements reprojected. It would be a lot easier if there was a way to reproject the data during the import process.
