I have a cell with an item type that reads an alignment and populates the Station and Offset when in ORD. If that file is opened in MSCE and the cell is moved, the station/offset will not be updated (as expected) and the "Last Valid Value" is displayed.
The problem is that a user could move the cell in MSCE and not know the value is incorrect.
We too have users that work on our Civil projects, but they are preparing structural components to be built in the project, and need to be able to read the ORD data to locate and add civil annotations to their structures outside of ORD.
I would look at it as being able to read the ORD data in MSCE to keep the text correct. I know we cannot edit some specific elements from ORD in MSCE but should at least be able to read those ORD elements to populate non-ORD specific elements from the ORD data, thus keeping cells and text favorites current.
Even if it can be a civil add-on to MSCE to read the extended data, would not necessarily have to be fully included in MSCE for all.
I would like to have a boolean flag associated to the value that is set to true if the Last Valid Value (LVV) was used. So, for example, if the Station was using the LVV, then I could access Station.LastValidValue and see that it is true and then do something with it.
To put it another way, I need a way to know if a value is up-to-date or not, and we could have hundreds of values.
Hi David,
What would you like to see happen in this scenario? Are you looking for a message or notification that the cell has been moved or changed? Where/how would you like it to notify you of the change?
