Shortcuts are an under-utilised Operating System tool. They are like 'pointers' or a re-directing and scripting tool.
When a file is dragged onto a Mstn or View window, it is loaded. The same should happen when a Shortcut is dragged onto the app. Bentley View already opens the Shortcut properly when opened from the File Open dialog.
File, Cell library attaching: the Shortcut could point to a folder- referencing all the files in the folder. Any subfolders and files in them would be nested.
The Shortcut stores a text string for the path and command, start in folder path, comments etc. Why not use this to leverage additional pre-processing steps? Mstn can now load a startup script. This would allow customisation at file level, not just once at start-up.
Scripting - a command line switch to point to a text file... could store ACS, Saved Views to be applied.
Shortcuts would boost productivity as it would allow individual users to store and automate their requirements without affecting the dgns... which will subject to other users requirements and changes.
The usual way this is handled is copying the info when... no one is looking.
Using 'dummy' or container dgns to group, assemble dgns for a particular task leads to bloat and additional nesting. It would be a lot cleaner to assemble the desired dgns and their settings by using the standard Ctrl-C and Paste Shortcut tool.
