A unnesting tool would be good to have as part of Mstn. See LuxArtX IT CARF's BIM toolkit. Presumably, this is a regular workflow when receiving MCAD content in the factory design sector.
Dropping is problematic as it increases the amount of geometry which will also slow things down. Also, you will lose any BIM data attached to the Cell and will not be able to do any quantification etc.
It would be good to assign Named Groups to the 'flattened' Cells so that they can retain some association to their orginal parent Cells. Auto increment when naming.
It would be have an 'Unnest Cells' as an import setting?

I agree, we are forwarding work in files for documentation purposes. These files are normally coming from other CAD like Tekla, AutoCad extensions, and others. Mostly the problem are nested cells. We need a facility to drop those nested cells but only to a certain degree (e.g. leave the last cell intact, also: give warning when business data is attached to cells)
