Search/Filter for Variation

Havingvariations is a big improvement from v8i but changing them when you have over 20 is a bit of a pain. In some cases changing one when you have hundreds is almost more time consuming then just replacing the cell like we did in v8i. It would be wonderful if there was a search or filter feature to find a variation liken to how windows explorer and many intuitive menus already in Microstation let you start typing what you think you want and it starts to find that thing. Of course the option exists if you remember the exact variation name to just type it exactly to get the result you want but sometimes we don't remember the exact name.

Hi Grant, thanks for the suggestion, we will consider adding this filter in one of the future releases.

Would you be able to provide further details to help explain what it is that you require. This could include example files or screen captures to show how this would be performed.

Hi Grant, were you thinking of a dedicated search bar in the variables dialog or for the general MicroStation search to also search for variables names...or both? If both...which would be the one with the highest priority?

The ideal would be when you click in the variation you could start typing similar to how most modern search engines work and it would present options for you in a pop up list you could click on possible tab thru and accept once you've narrowed it down. But it would be smart enough to find strings from inside the variation name without needing a wild card (*).

in the example above if you typed W8 it would only show all the W8 variations. Likewise if you typed ~ it would only show the cells with a ~ at the end.
