Points to Patterns
Place Active Cell has active angle and x,z,y scale as part of its dialog, but not Place Active Point which has a Cell/Character option.
It would be a big improvement if the Point placing tools (Place Active Point,Place Active Point Onto Element, Construction Point at Intersection, Construction Points Between Data Points, Construct Active Point @ Distance Along Element, Construct Active Point Along Element) would be more helpful and precise when the Cell option is selected.
The regular Cell placement setting like active angle, x,y,z scale, mirror, interactive, flatten... association options should be available. The Point placement tools have been part for Mstn for a long time and are mainly aimed at 2d and mapping tasks. It would be great if they could be enhanced to cater to the 3d work that is increasingly required today.
Construct Active Point (or cell or element) at Intersection tool should recognise multiple intersecting elements like the Trim to Element tool. An active point or cell or element would be placed at the intersections with the scaling, rotation and offset defined in the tool's settings dialog.
There should be a tool bar that consolidates the tools that place a single Point/Cell:
Place Active Point (which also accepts cells)
Project Active Point onto Element (linear or shape)
Construct Active Point at Intersection
Place Active Cell (which can be associatively snapped to an element)
Place Active Line Terminator
Populate Single
Another tool bar that groups the tools that place a linear array of Points/Cell:
Construct Points between Datapoints
Construct Active Point @ Distance Along Element
Construct Points along Element
Linear Pattern
Array Along Path
Populate Along Path
Multi lines or Line styles with (3D) point symbols
