I would like to see a better repair tool and interface. The current VRG tool is limited and offers the user no control or assistance in understanding any issues with the files.
Reason
If we had a dialog similar to that of Axioms file fixers, it would be a massive benefit. Plus offer the users even better control over DWG files

Do we have any updates on this? We really need to have a tool to repair files and clean non-graphical data from files efficiently. A robust tool, not some crappy rendition of verifydgn repair, which did absolutely nothing.
Tool is still not shipped only using token and also it is just compilation of Fixrange+level audit. Verifydgn is not available in CONNECT.
The "shipped" preview is not what we are looking for. We need tool which does low level scan of the DGN even when it can't be opened directly. Like the infamous "model(null)" error which is easy fixable as model list can be recovered.
Tried, also didn't report any range issues same as fixrange for recent file related to Defect Report 909113.

Axiom licensing: maybe Bentley should buy a license of Axiom and users would send their problem files with an SR for the support engineers to fix and return ? :-)
Next step - buy Axiom and incorporate filefixer, global change manager, refmanager, cellmanager etc into Mstn. This would make Mstn a lot of the datacentric tools that Revit users have or need to use Dynamo to do

We are continuing our porting of V8i VerifyDGN to CONNECT Edition. The project is quite large and is taking some time but we are working on it and expect something within a year. Overall, the complexity is high here.

couldn't agree more 1000% way overdue, currently only axiom tools has a file repair tool that actually does fix a lot of problems but they are still very expensive .. I know that Bentley have some in house analytical tools to help with investigating what wrong with a file .. but its way past due date for an effective delivered user tool

As a side note to this.... I am seeing a lot of DGN files that fail to convert to DWG. Normally, it is a faulty pattern or hatch. i.e. a pattern that was placed as a grouped Hole. If we had a tool that could analyse the data, when a file fails to do something, our usage of Bentley software will become some much better.. CAD manager would jump with joy.

Enhancement # 785410 has previously been raised to "Add Verifydgn in CONNECT edition or produce a similar tool". Anyone that is interested in monitoring this should create a Service Request which can be linked to it.

Cheers Oto. I agree, but looking at what verifyDGN does, I feel we need to have an actual tool that can diagnose the DGN file and report on where it is bad and then offer a series of repair options.
including... fix range, bad file headers, etc.

Bentley version of what Axiom File fixer does is what we need and include options that EDG used to have for v7 but with a GUI would be the BOMB..
right now only option is for your company to buy single license and make that person or cad administrator the FILE FIXER person .. not really very efficient ad hard to convince management you need expensive too for expensive package

Releasing file fixer would admit that DGN corruption is existing problem. DGN is based on doc structured storage format so with good programming practice(vectored exception handling) it should be not prone to corruption. Yes users need to have backups but even losing some days work is sad. There still seems to be some issue where files get corrupted. Blame is on SMB but then other docfiles would be also corrupted but issue is with Microstation - https://communities.bentley.com/products/microstation/w/microstation__wiki/6935/microstation-file-access-issues-with-shared-network-drives

If bentley are considering this... it needs to be available in ALL applications not just the power products ie PowerDraft needs it too.
Also, Autocad has this tool for dwg.
As I mentioned it needs to do what axion file fixer does and more.
