Unit flexibility within OpenRoads Designer would meaningfully improve productivity transitioning from design models to project documentation. Workflows currently require manual conversions or external calculation when extracting quantities for reports or bidding documentation which can introduce potential errors.
OpenRoads Designer already does this elsewhere with flex tables in Drainage and Utilities providing total quantification of drainage nodes and links in one place and earthwork reporting includes a convenient toggle between cubic feet and cubic yards.
Extending this same flexibility to general measurement tools would provide a more consistent and streamlined user experience.
Key features would be:
Expanding measurement tool dropdowns to include units already supported in design environments (e.g., inches, feet, yards, miles)
Supporting custom unit definitions allowing users to define project or workflow-specific units e.g. 100 linear feet = 1 station, 100 square feet = 1 square
Moving to MicroStation Ideas since this tool is a native MicroStation tool, not OpenRoads.
