I want a tool to remove arcs from a complex chain.
The available tool for this is Facet Curve, but it affects all the arcs in the complex chain. In most cases, this is not desirable.
Modify tool can only change the radius and similar properties. Chamfer is not allowed. Delete Vertex is not allowed. ...
The only option is to drop the whole chain, delete the arc and other necessary changes, then rejoin everything with complex chain command....
Try that with really big elements (km chains and thousands of elements) that usually come from survey files and you are in for a lot of trouble and crashes.. And is the output element equal to the original minus the one arc? No idea, there goes another 15min checking..
Really, it's not that difficult. Just allow the delete vertex and create a line between the remaining points.. Or the modify element to change an arc to line... Or chamfer to apply to complex chain.. EASY FIX..
AutoCAD/Civil3D do it.
That is why our local standards forbid to use complex elements including grouped holes.
Also the functionality is almost there, you can right click on component in the complex element in properties and it shows a delete but it deletes whole element not only the selected arc.
Please also make video of AutoCAD.
See the attached video. Am I doing something really wrong?
I think you are talking about civil geometry like profiles and aligments. With them, Delete Vertex works as you mentioned and I can remove the arc sub-element from a PI.
I`m talking about simple geometry. Just Complex Chain or shape. Then it won't work..
